Beyond Performance

Beyond Performance is a short documentary about athlete and creative Dariell Heim and his move to Sydney. What started as a film about sport slowly became a story about leaving home, chasing a bigger goal and finding connection through movement. Instead of focusing only on performance, the documentary looks at the quieter parts around it. Discipline, pressure, uncertainty and the moments where you realise what it actually takes to step into a new environment. The project came together with one main shooting day and a story that kept changing during the edit. That became the challenge: keeping it raw and honest while shaping it into a cinematic documentary with a clear visual direction.
